The workshop series V2C aims to stimulate professional exchange and discussions about current problematic in virulent urban environments. For each event a planning vision is formulated of which specific sites are selected for further investigations. Within a condensed week program international and national planners and architects, designers and artists are invited to develop concepts for a better future.
The first V2C will take place in Sao Paulo in March 2010 as direct spin-off of the successful CSI.SP workshop in 2009.
The 20 million megacity of São Paulo has experienced an unparalleled growth in the 20th century that has benefited society to very different extend. The different access to resources, jobs and housing have been spatially petrified into a fragmented urban agglomeration of abundant wealth and marginalized poverty.
V2C.SP aims to connect international professionals and local Brazilian practitioners and planners to work on four polemical project sites in São Paulo. bearing great potential to stimulate further discussion about the concept of the 'open city'.
Similar to the Biennale of Rotterdam 2009, the V2C organization invites to reflect on the issue of urban equality. The driving question is how architects and planners could contribute to increase the openess of São Paulo within a specific project.
On-site excursions, lectures and seminars with local experts will give adequate input und feedback.
